Chelsea are confident they can win the race to sign Borussia Dortmund striker Erling Haaland, according to reports.
The Norwegian has scored 29 goals in 27 appearances in all competitions this campaign with numerous big clubs around Europe looking into the possibility of signing the youngster.
Liverpool, Manchester City, Manchester United and Chelsea have all been linked with the 20-year-old, while the likes of Paris Saint-Germain, Bayern Munich and Real Madrid have also been credited with interest.
A report on Wednesday in Germany said that Chelsea ‘have no chance’ of signing Haaland with the Dortmund striker set on joining ‘an absolute top club’.
However, ESPN bring us a report on Friday which completely rejects those claims with the website painting a picture that Chelsea are still one of the favourites to sign Haaland.
The Chelsea hierarchy ‘believe they can tempt’ Haaland to move to Stamford Bridge this summer despite interest from a ‘growing number of Europe’s heavyweights’.
ESPN continue by claiming that there are ‘several elements in their favour’ with the Blues able to offer an ‘attractive financial package’.
The amount of prospects at Chelsea, including the likes of Kai Havertz, Christian Pulisic and Mason Mount, means Haaland can become ‘the centre-piece of a young, expensively assembled team’.
Roman Abramovich is ‘willing to sanction’ the move despite already spending in excess of £200m in the summer transfer window.
Living in London is seen as a ‘major draw for the striker, in addition to the club’s ambition to win the biggest trophies every year’.
But ESPN claims that there is one ‘key unknown’ which is Haaland’s agent Mino Raiola, who is known to be a demanding and controversial figure.
The report adds that ‘with no release clause active this summer, [Manchester] United may not be ready to splash big sums on the player’ after Solskjaer recently dampened fans’ summer window expectations.
