Man Utd are keen on signing Toulouse midfielder Kouadio Kone amid interest from Leeds United, according to reports.
The 19-year-old has been starting regularly for Toulouse in Ligue 2 in France, making 20 appearances and scoring two goals in all competitions this season.
His mature performances for the French club have alerted a number of clubs to his services, including Leeds United.
A report on Tuesday in Calciomercato claimed that Toulouse are ‘taking advantage of the interest shown in their talent by other European teams, including Leeds’.
They had previously demanded €10m from AC Milan, who have been keen on Kone’s services, before interest from Leeds has seen their demands increase to €15m.
Man Utd and Borussia Moenchengladbach are understood to be ‘very interested’ in Kone with Ole Gunnar Solskjaer already bringing prospects Facundo Pellistri and Amad Diallo to Old Trafford in recent times.
Speaking in September, former Man Utd defender Gary Neville suggested that Man Utd need to be looking at a new centre-back above anything else.
He said: “We can talk about [Jadon] Sancho all we like but until United get a centre back who can run and defend one-on-ones they are never going to win the league.
“They are never going to win the Premier League with that centre back pairing.
“They have to get a mobile, dominant centre half in alongside either Lindelof or Maguire.
“Over the years, the best centre back partnerships have always had that really quick one who has lightning pace to get across and snuff out the danger. Lindelof and Maguire just don’t have that.”
