Meanwhile, Walgreens Boots Alliance Inc (NASDAQ:) added 4.39% or 2.16 points to end at 51.35 and International Business Machines (NYSE:) was up 0.91% or 1.12 points to 123.61 in late trade.
The worst performers of the session were Boeing Co (NYSE:), which fell 4.48% or 9.06 points to trade at 193.00 at the close. Walt Disney Company (NYSE:) declined 3.83% or 6.50 points to end at 163.06 and Merck & Company Inc (NYSE:) was down 3.78% or 3.03 points to 77.22.
The top performers on the S&P 500 were Macerich Company (NYSE:) which rose 13.00% to 21.99, Seagate Technology PLC (NASDAQ:) which was up 11.75% to settle at 72.48 and Macy’s Inc (NYSE:) which gained 10.98% to close at 17.58.
The worst performers were L Brands Inc (NYSE:) which was down 14.42% to 36.80 in late trade, Gap Inc (NYSE:) which lost 10.40% to settle at 19.55 and Microchip Technology Inc (NASDAQ:) which was down 8.17% to 133.13 at the close.
The top performers on the NASDAQ Composite were Koss Corporation (NASDAQ:) which rose 426.80% to 52.680, Naked Brand Group Ltd (NASDAQ:) which was up 236.99% to settle at 1.320 and Fossil Group Inc (NASDAQ:) which gained 84.03% to close at 23.28.
The worst performers were Globus Maritime Ltd (NASDAQ:) which was down 22.01% to 5.4200 in late trade, Aikido Pharma Inc (NASDAQ:) which lost 21.23% to settle at 1.410 and ENDRA Life Sciences Inc (NASDAQ:) which was down 21.75% to 2.230 at the close.
Falling stocks outnumbered advancing ones on the New York Stock Exchange by 2578 to 568 and 48 ended unchanged; on the Nasdaq Stock Exchange, 2614 fell and 507 advanced, while 26 ended unchanged.
Shares in Seagate Technology PLC (NASDAQ:) rose to all time highs; gaining 11.75% or 7.62 to 72.48. Shares in Macy’s Inc (NYSE:) rose to 52-week highs; rising 10.98% or 1.74 to 17.58. Shares in 3M Company (NYSE:) rose to 52-week highs; up 6.09% or 10.71 to 186.66. Shares in Koss Corporation (NASDAQ:) rose to all time highs; rising 426.80% or 42.680 to 52.680. Shares in Globus Maritime Ltd (NASDAQ:) fell to 52-week lows; down 22.01% or 1.5300 to 5.4200. Shares in Fossil Group Inc (NASDAQ:) rose to 52-week highs; gaining 84.03% or 10.63 to 23.28.

Gold Futures for February delivery was down 0.61% or 11.30 to $1839.60 a troy ounce. Elsewhere in commodities trading, Crude oil for delivery in March rose 0.02% or 0.01 to hit $52.62 a barrel, while the April Brent oil contract fell 0.61% or 0.34 to trade at $55.30 a barrel.
EUR/USD was down 0.51% to 1.2099, while USD/JPY rose 0.57% to 104.19.
The US Dollar Index Futures was up 0.55% at 90.648.
