The United Way of Durham Region is now accepting applications for the second round of Ottawa’s Emergency Community Support Fund (ECSF), which is meant to help charities and non-profits through the pandemic.
The federal government has released the funding to three national charities, including the United Way and the Red Cross, for distribution.
Organizations can receive direct funding if they provide direct services to vulnerable people and have continued to offer services through the pandemic.
“Charities and non-profit organizations are at the heart of our communities, helping the most vulnerable Canadians during the COVID-19 crisis,” said Ahmed Hussen, Federal Minister of Families, Children and Social Development. “The Government of Canada is pleased to support these organizations through the Emergency Community Support Fund so that they can continue their invaluable work.”
The United Way of Durham Region says $678,750 is available for local community agencies, charities or non-profits.
Eligible organizations can apply until October 30.
