Sergio Perez has for long been underrated as a driver in Formula 1. Mostly driving for the midfield teams, the Mexican has often managed to push lackluster cars to podiums.
This year, he has been on a similar mission with Racing Point, and it seems like it has been going as per plan considering how he has outperformed the RP20 consistently.
The experienced driver has bagged 4 Top-5 finishes this season. He missed the podium by one position in Russia and Germany, finishing the race at P4.
Sergio Perez is the only driver other than Lewis Hamilton who has scored a point in every race he appeared in over the course of this season. His best finish has been P4, whereas his worst finish has been a P10 in Belgium and Italy.

The Mexican has earned praises and cheers from fans and pundits for his performances in 2020. Sergio Perez was set for his first podium of the season at Imola. However, a strange late pit stop strategy saw him drop down to 6th.
Perez recorded his best result at Sochi in the Russian Grand Prix. He struggled to get off the line and dropped behind the Renaults. However, the Mexican managed his tires beautifully to climb up to 4th.
Perez equaled his best result in the very next race at Eifel Grand Prix. After qualifying at P9, Checo put up a beautiful drive to climb up to P4. Once again, he was reported ruing the safety car. According to Perez, a mid-race safety car took the podium away from the Mexican.
Sergio Perez has 8 very impressive Formula 1 career podiums to his name. This season he came close to the podium twice; however, the safety car did not work in the Mexican’s favor.
Racing Point is being rebranded to Aston martin next season and will host Sebastian Vettel in Perez’s cockpit, leaving the 30-year-old without a drive.
However, following his impressive outing this season, finding allies won’t be too tall a task. It is certain that the Mexican will look to put up a strong performance in the remaining races in a bid to secure an F1 seat for 2021.
